What was the purpose of J.S. Bach's "Musical Offering"?

My research project evaluates the possible intended purposes of a collection of pieces by J.S. Bach called the Musical Offering. In my literature review, I summarize the main points made by scholars in the field who have published theories regarding that topic. My final project was the composition of three pieces of music in the same format as those in the Musical Offering itself.
