How Would We Amend the Constitution?

After reading the Declaration of Independence, we read the Constitution to understand how our government is set up. Alongside the Constitution, we read Fault Lines in the Constitution: The Framers, Their Fights, and the Flaws that Affect Us Today by Cynthia and Sanford Levinson. This text looks at each part of the US Constitution and some of the issues that have arisen as a part of it today. It also suggests some ways that we could work to amend the Constitution to reflect our more modern times.

From there, we proposed original amendments to the Constitution. We each researched our idea in order to understand why it is the way it is today, and if anyone has tried to change it in the past. We then took our ideas to the streets (so to speak) to see what people thought of our amendments. We sent out an online survey to our community and received over 90 responses! Students then included this data in their proposals.
