Gavin Beckwith – World Languages
B.A. French Literature, Florida State University
M.A. French Studies, New York University
Gavin grew up in the small beach town of Pensacola, Florida, where he daydreamed of moving to cities like Paris or New York. While attending Florida State University, a French professor inspired him to change his major to French literature. From there, Gavin won a scholarship to study in France, became an English teaching assistant in a Parisian high school, and later got the chance to study French at NYU’s prestigious Institute of French Studies. Gavin believes that learning French should be an interdisciplinary pursuit. There is so much to learn about art, history, literature, philosophy and more through the Francophone lens! Above all, Gavin encourages his students to be creative and to discover the many doors that learning French can open. He can’t wait to bring his blend of knowledge and creativity to the Meridian community. In his free time, you can catch him watching Formula 1, reading, cooking, or playing video games. Gavin joined Meridian in 2025.
