Human Biology and Decision Making

This trimester, Division 3 students explored the different ways to find solutions to quadratic equations. They began by building on their previous algebraic understanding to establish the method of factoring. Using these steps, they constructed other systems for solving. In their videos, students explain each of these methods and how to choose when to use each of them. Additionally, students explored protein structure and function by creating a presentation, skit or video to represent the structure of proteins and discuss the properties that arise as a result of this structure. They looked at all levels of organization of proteins utilizing NCBI database data. Students also explored Mitosis by creating a board game that is themed around Mitosis. Students were to represent the stages of Mitosis as well as the structural components of the cell necessary to perform these functions.
