Doing Research in Math and Science

Welcome to DRIMAS!

Join us LIVE on June 16 at 7pm in THIS ZOOM ROOM to chat with students about their projects!

This has been a full trimester for the Division 1 students, with many exciting projects! Students began the trimester by coding in Scratch, a drag and drop programming language. We then applied these skills to Python, a more robust coding language. We used Raspberry Pis, mini computers, with a SenseHat on them to code; this allowed students not only to code in Python, but to connect to the environment around them to create dynamic, quick-feedback codes.

Students used this setup to sense the weather in and around the school over spring break, then created infographics analyzing this information. With one coding project under their belts, students continued their Python education by completing a second coding project of their choice.

Finally, students completed Passion Projects on the topics of their choice. These extremely student-driven projects saw students creating their own rubrics, deciding on their own artifacts to create, and presenting their work to the class.

Check out our awesome work below!
