Meridian Academy
curiosity • creativity • community
Meridian Academy is an urban, independent, college preparatory school. Our school, located in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, is for students who want to become experienced problem-solvers with leadership skills; who want to propose and carry out original projects; and who want to understand the connections between the different ideas that they study and the world in which they live.
Now enrolling students in grades sixth through nine, Meridian will expand until we serve grades six through twelve. Please contact us to receive news updates by email.

How will your children grow as members of Meridian Academy? They benefit from:
A small school size that promotes community and gives each student experience being a leader of important projects within the school.
Small classes (with no more than 16 students) that assure that each student is known well and is an active participant in all activities.
A flexible schedule that facilitates interdisciplinary, inquiry-based learning. Our connected curriculum helps students master important academic skills such as writing, abstract reasoning, and analyzing information and understand how these skills can be used to solve real-world problems.
Intellectually and physically active learning that uses the resources of the city of Boston and its environs. These vivid and varied class experiences make student learning more meaningful and memorable.
A commitment to diversity in its many forms including race, background, ideas, and interests so that students come to understand and appreciate a variety of perspectives.
An emphasis on writing, problem-posing, and original research in all classes that helps students develop the skills and confidence needed to carry out complex projects.
A collaborative approach that nurtures a love of learning.
Homework levels that allow students time to do their work well, to be thorough and reflective, and to develop creative and effective solutions to assignments. Homework expectations also allow students to continue to participate in family and extracurricular life.
A tuition that is considerably less than that charged by traditional independent secondary schools.
