Project Proposals Due:
Project proposals should be typed and double-spaced and at least 2-3 pages long (the literature review can be pages long).
These are the sections that your proposal should include:
-
The interests and motivations that guided you to your question.
-
Your question (as well as an outline of any possible sub-questions or larger inclusive questions that might be relevant as you develop your project further). This is most likely a how or why question (although the occasional what is fine, too).
-
Literature review - background information that is important foundational knowledge that will inform your research (what is known about your subject, methods, etc.) with references and citations to significant sources (e.g., “Gooding’s (1987) analysis of … helped me to understand some of the possible …”). If you know of any possible outside mentors, please identify them as well.
-
Your goals – a description of your project process and products. What tasks will you carry out and what will you be sharing with the public?
-
Next steps.
